Yum! Time at the Folk School

Mandy & Christine dishing out the Morroccan chicken

I love the kitchen crew! Christine (in the bonnet) is the folk school’s most long term employee (30+ years). She is one of 11 children and always gives me hugs. Mandy is so awesome and works so hard to put her daughter through college. She works at the folks school during the day and then the night shift at WALMART. I don’t know how she does it.

Pictured in this photo is the folks school Moroccan chicken. The food at the school is totally delish. I can’t complain at all except that it’s hard to not pack on the pounds! They have a great vegetarian spread at each meal, fresh baked bread, and a big variety of meals. I eat way too many desserts! They are served at every meal.

Here are some more shots of the dining hall…

As hosts, we help to serve the food, ring the meal bell, lead the blessing and do the announcements. Meals are served family style at tables of 8. The bell rings for meals everyday at 8:15, 12:15, and 6pm. My favorite breakfast day is biscuits and gravy on Wednesdays. The fresh biscuits are so yummy! I can’t wait to eat one tomorrow!
